Nothing is Wasted

– Honest Moments – Nothing is Wasted –

Undoubtedly we waste a lot, but God does not waste anything.

We waste time.

I waste time checking my email.

I waste time sitting at traffic lights.

Or I waste time on social media.

And I waste time watching TV.

We waste moments.

I waste teachable moments with my children.

In similar fashion I waste time not talking to my husband.

Thirdly, our efforts are wasted.

Our children still do not obey.

The socks still never make it to the laundry basket.

Similarly, the dirty dishes stay on the table.

Meanwhile the Bible sits unopened sometimes more than one day in a row.

When I look at how long I’ve known the Lord I see how much I stumble and fall.  In truth I am tempted to be discouraged and feel as if so much of my life has been wasted.

Mistakes.

Mistakes feel so wasted.  I want to know that Grace can cover over my mistakes, yes.  But I need to know that my mistakes are not wasted.  Can Grace make something beautiful out of my mistakes?

Isaiah 61 is God’s announcement of His salvation.  What does He say about His Grace?

Isaiah 61:1-3

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

 And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

God Wastes Nothing

When God offers salvation, He does not say “salvation.”  Rather He uses words like

“heal” – “liberty” – “comfort” – “console” – “beauty for ashes”

In conclusion, Salvation is about Grace. Accordingly grace is about healing, forgiveness, and beauty. God does not waste our mistakes. God wastes nothing. He does condone or ignore our mistakes. On the contrary He forgives them. Grace does not leave us in our mistakes. Unquestionably He uses those mistakes to change us.

Dear Momma,

Do not live in your mistakes any longer.  It must be remembered that God has provided the Grace to….

….heal our mistakes.

….bring liberty out of our mistakes.

…comfort us past our mistakes.

….and give us beauty to replace the mistakes.

  1. In a world where there is much striving and failing, it helps to know that we can abide in his love and his grace. Our faults and weakness are areas from which we can minister through God’s power and his spirit.

  2. Great post! Sometimes the hardest thing for me is to forgive myself for my own mistakes…even after I know that God has already forgiven me. If only we could be as gentle with ourselves as God is.

    1. So true Laura….we are sometimes a lot more unforgiving than our God. Gives us even more reason to love and worship Him!
