New Year 2015

happy new year

One year ago today we filled out our first application to begin the adoption process.

In February, on the day of our first home study meeting, my husband found out he had lost his job.

In March our family took a much needed vacation.  The day we were leaving we rejoiced in Jason’s new job. God was clearly working behind the scenes and for our good.

In April Jason began his new job.  It has much better hours and we are so thankful for God’s direction.  Although we didn’t know God’s plan at the time – we see now that God knew what He was doing.

The summer of 2014 flew by!  We spent our time gathering documents for the dossier and playing at the pool.  We joined a local pool for the first time and the kids loved it.

In the fall we sent in our dossier and began an exciting new home schooling year!  Jack is in first grade, Titus is in Pre-school, and Emmalia loves coloring and drawing while the boys work.

In October we received life-changing news.  We were given a face and name to the sweet daughter we had been dreaming about for a year.  We sent in our LOI for our daughter, Liana, and received our LOA for her only 13 days later.

Although December saw a few set backs with lost paperwork, God continued to remind us that He was working.  Our entire travel was fully funded officially on December 21! There are still ways to help, though. Click here to find out how.

If I could sum up 2014 it would be: God is still working. Smetimes we don’t understand or see how circumstances will be for our good.  This year has shown us that God truly does works all things for our good.  Through our entire adoption process, I learned about waiting and trusting God’s timing.  But seeing God work was by far the biggest highlight of 2014.  We saw God’s hand behind the scenes with Jason’s job loss and our lost paperwork.  When His ways were hidden from us, we learned that we can still trust Him.  God showed us His power and His delight in answering our prayers with a referral in 6 weeks and an LOA in 13 days.  We are amazed at how God answered our specific prayer requests – not once, but twice.

As 2015 begins, we are looking forward to a lot of new memories, especially adding our sweet daughter to our family.  We are also looking ahead and knowing that God is going to teach us so much of His faithfulness.  I love the idea of having a “one little word” for the year.  A word that God can use throughout the year to encourage and teach. For 2015, I keep coming back to the word: Faithful.

1. I want to see more and more of God’s faithfulness.  It is there.  I just need eyes of faith to see it.

2. I want to be more faithful in studying God’s Word.  I know that the more I am in God’s Word, the more I will grow to be more like Christ and live more a life of rest.
