Hymns for Motherhood – The Sparrow

Hymns for Motherhood

His Eye is On the Sparrow

Fear sees….loneliness.

Faith sees….friendship.

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:

Jesus is our friend.  He sees our needs.  We can talk to Him, tell Him our fears. He listens and His Word is there to give us comfort, advice, and encouragement.  His Spirit lives inside of our souls to bring to mind these words of comfort.

~~~
Fear sees…a foggy path.
Faith sees….the next step.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
God promises to guide us, while we look to Him.  He will place people in our lives to give us good advice.  His Word will  provide insight and general principles for how to live our lives.  The Holy Spirit lives inside our hearts to help us make decisions as well.
~~~

Fear sees…despair.

Faith sees….hope.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;

How do we have faith enough to cast out our fear?  We remember that He sees the sparrow.  He sees us and gives us hope.  The sun rises every morning.  That completely common occurrence is there as a DAILY reminder that God is near, and the darkness will never last forever.

~~~
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
God sees your loneliness and offers you His friendship.
John 15:15: No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
God sees your path and offers you His guidance.
Psalm 32:8: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
God sees your despair and darkness and offers you hope.
Jeremiah 17:7: Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord
Now, dear momma, sing this with me in your heart:
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
