Be Still in September

What comes to mind when you read these words…..

Breathe In

Be Still

I think of long summer days. I can smell the clear mountain air or salty ocean breeze. Vacation. Relaxing. I automatically let my shoulders drop. And I breath in deep. I think quiet. Peace. Calm. Soaking in the sun and the Son. I think of focusing, meditating, and memorizing Scripture. My God says for me to rest. Be still.

With the coming of September, I’m finding it so hard to breathe.  My calendar is crowded and busy. I barely have time to get it all done, let alone be still….before God.

Be Still

Instead of a month of busyness, I’m going to set aside a month of being still.  A month of breathing in. Not striving. Not working. Just rest. I have my schedule. And obligations. And plans. But I am also going to make room to be still.

Will you join me?

We can discover how even in our seasons of waiting, we can breath in His Word and learn to trust. I want to find how to have a “quiet time” when my life (and my kids!) are so noisy. Let’s dig deep. Soak in why being still is so important for our spiritual life…..which then translates into our noisy schedules.

I will be having some great giveaways this month. One big one here on the blog (come back tomorrow). And a few extras on Instagram. Find me on instagram.com/sarah_e_frazer.

One last announcement (which I’ve been working on for several weeks now). Tomorrow is the launch of my newsletter! I’m so excited to share with you some monthly encouragement. You can sign up here.

Letters of Grace

As a bonus for signing up, I will be sending you a link to download THREE different printable posters for your heart and your home, including this one in honor of this month’s theme:

Be Still-2

I promise I won’t be flooding your inbox with lots of emails. Only ONE per month! (Maybe an extra if something exciting is happening on the blog). Each month will also include a free printable, and maybe even other free stuff!

Some great things are happening this Fall, so don’t miss out!

  1. What a great reminder! I hope that your September is filled with grace. We can never get enough of that grace.

  2. I totally agree that we NEED stillness in our lives. I try to get up early and have a time of reading and prayer. It’s hard but I’m never sorry when I make it happen. Blessings!

  3. Sarah, You’ve spoke to the desire of my heart to just be still before the Lord even in the midst of all the daily noise.

In New England, September is probably one of the prettiest months. I love the slant of the sun and the warm days, but not too hot, just right. What a perfect month to purpose to be still before the Lord.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you for faithfully reading Karen and I’m so glad I’m not alone in desiring to be still before our Lord!

  4. I’m visiting from Mom 2 Mom Monday Link-Up. I agree that September will bring busyness – my daughter is starting pre-K in a week. I want to be an involved mother in her school experience, and I’m excited for this new chapter in our lives. But it also brings on new stresses and changes that can cause us to react with fear. I will try to bring some stillness and grace into the upcoming weeks!

    1. Yes! Jennifer! I’m finding that if I don’t “plan” to be still, I never will. And God’s peace can be felt no matter our season!

  5. Stillness is something my soul is craving. My family of four has moved in with my parents until we can close on our house in Oct. There’s always something going on and people going somewhere and littles who don’t want to settle and miss something. Thank you so much for this much-needed reminder. It’s time for me to find pockets of time to rest. 🙂

  6. Being intentional about being still is so important. It’s when we have time to breathe that God often meets us in ways that he wouldn’t otherwise. And in our fast paced world, stillness isn’t going to happen unless we make sure it does! Blessings on your September!

  7. I love that we can even be still inside when things are noisy and chaotic on the outside. What a great reminder to take in a deep breath…and be still my soul! Amen!

  8. Ir’s nice to meet you and your blog. I am also spending more time with God on my blog with a 30 Day Challenge called Refections. I’m reading a lot of David’s Psalms and blogging about them. 🙂
