Monday Morning Blues {2}

Grab your coffee for five minutes. Here are some thoughts to help you get over your Monday Morning Blues.

morning blues

I look at my to-do list. Is it bad that I have to write everything on two pages? I stare at the list and realize: “I don’t want to do any of this.” Deep within me I sigh a huge exhausted sigh. I reach for my extra large coffee mug. The flowery cup is chipped in a couple of places. I remember falling in love with it at TJMax. Today, I’m falling in love with the brown liquid energy inside. I add my no-calorie sweetener and a dash of chocolate creamer. I plop down with my cup and begin. I rearrange my list. I put little check boxes next to each item. I write a couple of extra things, like “Fix Breakfast,” just so I can check one off…..one done. Now to the rest of the twenty. I’m tired just looking at the list.
What if instead of looking at our week as a huge long “To-Do” list full of deadlines, appointments, and obligations – we see it as fresh new start?
I love the New Living Translation of Lamentations 3:23 –
Great is His Faithfulness Afresh...
God’s mercies are afresh every single morning, not just on Mondays. Dear tired friend, begin afresh today. God’s mercies are new for you TODAY. His grace is sufficient for you TODAY. He is so faithful. Faithful to love you. Faithful to forgive you. Faithful to show you the path. Faithful to give you strength. Whether you are waiting, a tired momma, or just struggling with the mundane – start afresh. Even though it’s the same sun that rises each day, each day is chance to start again.
Are you holding on to that grief from yesterday?
Are you feeling the weight of guilt from all of your past mistakes?
Are you tired and just can’t see the path ahead?
Is the way uncertain and your heart is just tired of the unknown?
Do you just wish you could change your name and move to Paris?
Are you just overwhelmed with life?
Begin today. Find God today. Turn up some Christian music and open His Word. But more than that – take five minutes to pray to your Father and ask for a fresh new start. He is waiting with all of the mercy you will need. Today.
The God of yesterday and of the future says to find His mercy today.

  1. Oh man I needed this today. So many emotions going through this mama returning from what was supposed to be a getaway weekend that just wasn’t all that I’d hoped… Then today being my last Monday of summer…and my last week home with our sweet babe before everyone heads back to daycare… Wondering if this summer was as great as I’d wished… looking back and feeling unaccomplished. Definitely giving some words up to my sweet Lord today.

    1. Praying you can enjoy your last week…..don’t remember all you DIDN’T do, but all you DID> like give birth!?! 🙂 Praying for you today!

  2. So glad I stopped by to read this today! I feel like a crazy lady over here with a to do list and just feeling drained- thanks for the encouragement and reminder!

  3. What a great post for a Monday! Today is a new start, fresh day! New mercies every morning! Keeping ahead of the week, making every morning count in the presence of the Lord. Thanks for sharing this post with us at Words Of Comfort Link Up, see you next Monday!

    Hugs,
    Tayrina

  4. Yep, I definitely needed your words today about starting afresh… it felt like you scooped the list of faults and tasks right from my insides… and well-timed since I’ve been asking God to help me one small change at a time with some practical things like my diet and exercise … thanks, Sarah. So good to be your neighbour today at #WordsofComfort!

  5. Such encouraging words! I totally put stuff on a check list that I’ve already done, just so I can check it off! Thanks for linking up, Sarah!

  6. I was made aware the other day by a Sister at church with the gift of discernment … I have a tiny drop of unforgiveness in my heart. Instantly, I knew what it was. I have learned from God how to forgive others … I have forgotten to forgive myself!

Anyone else relate? It’s been an introspection kind of week! I have to seek freedom!

    Thank you for your post!

  7. This is a great way to look at it. I have a to-do list, but I don’t look at it for the first hour I’m up, I enjoy waking up, my coffee, scrolling socially through facebook, not working. I love this time of day, and I need to ask God for a fresh start, instead of just being in the moment and enjoying my coffee. Together, an unbeatable morning.

So thankful His mercies are new every morning and we can rest in Him!
