Breathe in Freedom While We Wait

Breathe In Freedom While You Wait

While we waited for a referral it was hard. During the adoption process it seemed as if each step was harder and harder. Once we had her picture the game changed completely. She was real. Suddenly I could look at her. Gaze into her eyes and think about her as a real person…..and I did. Everyday. All day. For weeks. And months. Waiting to travel was the most stressful part of our adoption process.

I felt trapped. Hidden inside an invisible prison of waiting. No one passing me by on the street would ever see the bars. Even friends and family didn’t see how my life and the waiting kept me captive. Let me walk beside you, waiting friend, and say: You are not alone in feeling like a prisoner. I am here to listen. To cry with you and mourn the passing of time. Can I share some good news with you?

Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

No longer are you required to stay in this prison. You are invited into a life of freedom. A life filled with hope, not despair. A life settled in rest, not worry. A life with joy, not sorrow. A life of freedom, not imprisonment.

Galatians 5:1, “For freedom Christ has set us free.”

Christ has set us free.  Free! Free from the power of sin. Not free from pain. But we can have joy and rest even in our pain. When our eyes are fixed on Christ, we find freedom. When our hearts are focused on the Spirit, we discover the chains have been broken. No longer do we need to fear the future. We know who hold the future! No longer do we need to be bound in this prison of wait. Walk into the sunlight today and embrace the freedom Christ has purchased for you.

So, how do we encounter hope and joy, even in a season of waiting? One step you can take today is to enter into a Bible Study program! If you are looking for something to jump-start your Bible reading, check out my Brand NEW e-book!

Because of Faith book cover-3Many of life’s precious moments are not found on mountain tops. Faith isn’t tested in the big, grand things of life; faith is tested in the small moments. We can daily believe the truth, seek God in His Word, and open our hearts in prayer to find hope.

More than anything, God has promised us HOPE.

In this study, we will be looking at Romans 5:1-5 and looking at Five Reasons to Hope because of our faith. With God, we can find the hope to keep on believing – even if it’s just for today. I hope you will open your heart and mind to the truths of God’s Word, and I pray you will find encouragement as you discover hope for your ordinary days!

  1. What a good word on waiting, Sarah!

I love this line, “When our hearts are focused on the Spirit, we discover the chains have been broken. No longer do we need to fear the future.”

There is joy even in pain, even in the waiting.

We are waiting to move out of a very small apartment. We thought we’d be a few months, but we’ve been here almost 7 years. Asking God to give us the grace to wait.

Came over on Waiting on Wed. Glad to find your site.
Hope you have a blessed day~
    Melanie

  2. Hi Sarah, thanks for visiting me from Coffee for Your Heart. May the Lord use your words to encourage many women waiting for adoption. So painful. God must be speaking to me on freedom today because I used that very same Galatians 5:1 verse in a blog post. 🙂
