5 Reasons to Pray During Our Season of Waiting

1. A Chance for Intimacy
God invites us to pray and talk with Him! What a privilege?! The God of Heavenly hosts is calling us to come to Him with our requests, and our hearts. His very throne room is available anytime.
Jer. 29:11-14
Rev. 3:14-22

2. Start with God’s Word
When you don’t know where to start, begin by reading the Psalms and praying those words to God. It may sound silly, but those Psalms are there for us!
Psalm 16
Psalm 37
Psalm 40 and 42

3. We Aren’t Alone in Prayer
God is with us, helping us, even in our prayer life! He has given us His Holy Spirit to help us, when we are struggling with the words to say. Christ is always interceding for us. It is not just a one-way conversation. God is listening, helping us to pray, and with His word we have His answers!
Rom. 8:26
Heb. 7:23-24

4. When God is Silent
Once we have confessed our sin, and know that there isn’t anything between us and God we can know that our prayers are being heard. Seasons come in our life when there is no answer. “Jesus never mentioned unanswered prayer; He had the boundless certainty that prayer is always answered.” (Oswald Chambers). We can know, even when God is silent, when we can’t feel Him….the promises are still true.
Job 30:16-20; 40:1-5
Ps. 62:5-6
Ps. 88

5. Intercessory Prayer
When we pray for others, do we focus on their spiritual well-being or physical? I confess, I’ve prayed mostly for the physical. However, looking at these prayers from Paul, we see the apostle praying for the believer’s spiritual life:
Eph. 3:14-21
Col. 1:9-12
2 Thess. 1:11-12
He prayed for:
– Knowledge
– Walk Worthy
– Fruitful
– Strength
– Patience/Long-suffering
– Joy

I challenge you, dear waiting friend, breathe in prayer.

  1. We need to stay close to Jesus through tough times. Seek His face and not just His hand. I’m a huge believer in seeking His face. In the end it makes all the difference in the world, not only in whatever we are praying for, but in us. Which is more important anyway.
