Five Minute Free Writes – Every week I join a special group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE. Each week the prompt is revealed Thursday evening. You can find more information here.
This week our prompt is: FIRST
First. Beginnings. Fresh starts.
Firsts are sometimes lost. Forever. In a Chinese orphanage.
Firsts are sometimes right here. In my home. At my table.
Firsts for me mean beginnings. Beginning a new year. Month. Week. Day. Hour. Minute. You don’t have to wait unil the morning for His mercies to be new. They are new and first and fresh anytime. Anytime my heart bows in humble surrender to confession. Anytime my soul needs a fresh new start with new possibilities and ideas. His mercies met us anywhere. Whether we are sitting in the dawn, in the drag of the afternoon, or the dead of night. His mercies met us there. Giving us new beginnings.
Do not think He doesn’t stop working. Do not think He doesn’t stop making it all good. Do not think He will wash His hands of us and walk away. No matter how long we run. How far we hide into ourselves He is there. He is not angry with us. He is not angry with me. He is not angry with you.
Do you hear it? Do you hear His voice? It is always, always calling for restoration. It is always drawing us to Himself. For in Himself is the First. And the Last.
He is the first of all that is good. He is the first of all that works out right.
Don’t run away. Run towards. The God who allows the hard things to show He is “I AM.”
