Five Minute Free Writes – Every week I join a special group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE. Each week the prompt is revealed Thursday evening. You can find more information here.
This week our prompt is: Present
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.” Psalm 68:19
The present is where my God lives. In the now. Today. I’ve been thinking and dwelling on living in the present. My God supplies my daily needs. He lifts my daily burdens. Provides my daily portions. While the children in the wilderness wandered for forty years, God provided. Daily. Everyday they would go outside their tents and see the provision.
God rained down the actually food of angels. From heaven. A miracle. A real miracle. Everyday. Everyday they saw God’s provision. They could only gather what they needed for that day. Only one day at a time. No more. No less. God always made sure they had enough: for each day.
I’ve realized lately that God still provides for my daily. Just enough. Grace. To cover the sins of yesterday and five minutes ago. Love. To have compassion and kindness for those around me. Patience. Wow. Yes, with four little ones I need lots of patience. And He provides it. Sometimes I make it to bed time before losing it all, but there always seems to be enough.
God lives with us in the present. In the present we find His peace. Our God doesn’t call us to recall the past or bear the burdens of yesterday. Our God doesn’t want us to worry about the future. He wants us to live today. Just today. One day at a time. Its hard, this daily living. I get caught up in dreams or past mistakes. I’m slowly learning the art of walking and living in the present.
The present is where we will find His presence.
