Five Minute Free Writes – Every week I join a special group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE. Each week the prompt is revealed Thursday evening. You can find more information here.
This week our prompt is:TIME
Time. I wish I could go back in time and do things differently. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self a few things. If time were fluid, would I live and love in the present? I wonder if I would constantly be going backward or forward? Looking to the past and regretting or trying to fix the mistakes – to erase the guilt. Would my eyes gaze into the future, picturing my children older? More independent. Or can I see the beauty in the NOW?
If time is set, and everyone gets the same amount, its up to me how I live. And my life will not be lived looking backward or forward. My life is lived in the everyday. The ordinary isn’t ordinary when my God lives here with me.
I’m so thankful my God is here with me in the present. His faithfulness has been true in the past and will be true in the future, but the grace I need is for right now. If I live for tomorrow, I will never be able to enjoy today.
I pray my heart is content with the “right now.” The moments do fly by, so I’m determining to sit down and live in today. I will not neglect the daily. The daily is where my God is. The daily is where my family lives. I pray I will not run ahead and think too far in the future. I pray I can take steps forward, but as I move forward I don’t forget to live in right now.
For time can never be bought back.
Time is living in the daily.
