Today you turn three years old. Only one third of your life has been spent with us. Its ok. I’ll have many more birthdays, but this one. This ONE. It feels like the first one. It feels new. Exciting. A new beginning.
You have been with us eleven months. Eleven. Not long. But long enough. Enough time to know us. Enough time to be happy with family over. Happy enough to be comfortable with company.
To celebrate you, we invited everyone over. You smiled. And giggled. And squealed. You knew it was about you. You can’t speak, but you spoke. Today you spoke with the light in your eyes. In the smiles to everyone. In the hugs. In the crawling and excitement all of over your face. You spoke of your heart. We’ve worked hard for your heart, and so glad we are seeing glimpses of it. Especially today.
Your birthday. The day to celebrate your birth. Yes, we think of your birth mother. Your birth father. We wonder and wish they could see you. See how big you’ve gotten. And although we don’t really know anything about your birth, your birthday is not to celebrate that particular day, as much as it is to celebrate you.
We don’t need to know all of your past to know you now. We don’t need to know about your birth, only that you were held. Loved. And Seen. By the Creator. As you were knitted in your mother’s womb, God saw you. You were not hidden from Him.
And today, we don’t celebrate the sadness. Today we celebrate YOU. And all the joy you have brought to our family. Today we celebrate with fairies, candles, and presents.
Happy Third Birthday my sweet fairy girl, Liana Joy Manhua
