Five Minute Free Writes – Every week I join a special group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE. Each week the prompt is revealed Thursday evening. You can find more information here.
This week our prompt is: Decide
Let’s set a timer…get your fingers ready… and Go!
Every morning we have cereal I let my children pick which one they would like. I usually buy several boxes to last a few weeks, but I only pull out two from the cabinet for them to choose from. Too many choices, even if all of the choices are good and right are hard to make.
When all of the choices are good choices, can we make a bad one? If all of the choices align with His will for our lives, is He still pleased with different choices?
How do we decide between a good choice and a good choice? We just pick. Like my children. They don’t sit there and agonize over which one they want. A few just run buy and point to a box. Another child might stare at the two boxes to see which box is more colorful.
Making decisions doesn’t have a set formula. As long it lines up with His Word, we are free to make choices in our lives.
My choice wouldn’t be your choice. My choice is not better than your choice. No matter the decisions we make as a community and individuals, we can still love and support each other. If sin is not involved, then we can lift up those of us who are making different choices.
And its ok.
Determining what is best isn’t always easy, but that’s the freedom in Christ. The freedom to make choices and trust our God to work out the rest. And He will. He always will.
