Working together as a team reminds me of my summers when I would spend a week at the local Bible camp. We would do those silly “team challenges” – helping us to learn to work together. It seems they only caused us to friction further if the team was already weak….or….if the group of girls were strong friends, the teams would thrive.
Just being on a team, or even facing a challenge doesn’t mean automatic success. Just because a common goal exists isn’t a guarantee of victory. It takes daily work to be a part of a team. Whether at work, at church, or even in our homes, teamwork is about the inter-personal dynamics. Teamwork is only as good as the relationships and bonds underneath the surface.
I see my sweet little (some would call big) family as one big team. However, we will only be successfully when our eyes are focused on Jesus. If He is our leader, we can work together to forge good, strong relationships with each other.
It begins with Jason and I. If our marriage is working – so will the family. Next comes the relationship between me (the momma) and the children. My relationship with each child will affect my relationship of the whole family. If I get irritated with one of the little ones, the other children will begin to find fault as well.
It is important to me to never diminish them. Their relationships with each other matters as well. And with any good team – relationship is the glue holding it all together.
I pray God continues to bless our little “team” and use us for His glory!
