When I was growing up, we would go to various parks during the autumn season. It was our favorite time to explore and the beautiful perks of being home schooled. My mom would pack a lunch and we would get to play a little on the play ground. When we were ready, she would lead the way through the worn path of the forest.
The paths where runners trained. The paths where dogs led their owners. Autumn is the perfect season for our state. It is the season of color. With the brown, red, and golden branches swaying in the 70 degree weather. As we walked along, we would look down at our feet to keep them from stumbling. Yet we would also glance ahead, to check the next turn. Or to look around to view the scenery.
I never liked to walk the paths alone. Even the paths I knew by heart didn’t feel safe without someone near. Even as a girl, I needed a companion.
So now, as a woman, I am thankful for my God who walks the path with me. The ordinary everyday path of life doesn’t bore Him. The unknown path is known to Him. The treacherous path is safe while I stay close to Him. How do I abide, while I walk all of these paths of life? Trusting Him.
(The Message) Psalm 119:105-107
By your words I can see where I’m going;
they throw a beam of light on my dark path.
I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back
from living by your righteous order.
Everything’s falling apart on me, God;
put me together again with your Word.
His Word is truly the only Light for any path. The path of motherhood. The path of change. The path of the unknown future. It all is led by His light, and it leads to His light. No matter my life’s direction, I know where this path ends…..with Him. Forever.
