Everyday they want to eat. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With four little ones (and a hungry husband) it seems the constant decision for what to fix to eat is on my mind. It isn’t so much the cooking, baking, or even the cleaning up I don’t like. The hardest part for me is the decisions. What do I fix?
Maybe if everyone didn’t dislike different things, I could make it easier. Maybe if I had endless time (and trips to the grocery store) it wouldn’t be so hard. But everyday I wake up, trying to decide what to fix for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is overwhelming. Everyday, I need to make the decision.
Sometimes I make the decisions with ease, while other times I just stare into my cabinets, looking past the boxes of mac and cheese and wishing a meal fairy would come down and create the perfect meal list.
Instead, I must eventually wake up and decide. So many times my spiritual life is the same. Make a decision to follow Jesus, but that kind of following is still a daily choice. It is in the small decisions I make. Do I get up early to read my Bible? Do I give up T.V. to spend time studying? Do I spend longer in prayer and skip my coffee?
Those questions must be answered everyday. Will I serve Jesus? With my attitude? With my thought-life? With my small choices? The little decisions add up to a life. What kind of life I live is directly related to the small choices I make everyday.
I get overwhelmed with it sometimes. There are so many choices and opportunities. If you just want to start, but don’t know where – check out my Five Steps to Start Your Bible Study Habit. The steps are free, but I have an audio course that leads you through each step. It is only $5. You can check it out here.
No matter what we decide – let’s decide today we will “eat” from God’s Word!
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8
