I’m ready to get snail mail again! I loved getting letters as a child, and still do. Growing up I had around 2-3 pen pals. A couple of those girls are some of my closets friends. We’ve never lived near each other or went to church together. We met at camp and exchanged addresses and it continues. Now we connect through Facebook, email, phone calls, and text messages. Words still pass between us.
I think I’ve always liked get letters because I love words. And to know the person wrote the words for me, made it extra special. They took the time to pen it.
Most of the New Testament are words written in letter format. We forget the inspired words were first penned by the early church and the first Christians. They struggled with so many of the same heart issues we still face today, and God responded. God used the words of men to reveal His Word and truth. I’m intrigued to study more about the lives behind the letters. Who was Paul? What kind of men were Peter and John?
How did these men pen words on a paper and send them via a carrier to Christians across the globe, to encourage? God has always used words. And pray He will use my words to encourage as well. I don’t claim to have new revelation nor do I believe God will use any letters any man will write today to speak for Him (we have His word for that).
I do believe our words matter to others. Maybe I need to send a letter…….
