We sat in a parking lot coming home today. Our youngest daughter had an appointment 3.5 hours away at the children’s hospital. We were only 25 minutes away from home when the traffic just stopped. The highway was at a standstill in the eastbound lanes. Cars zoomed past in the westbound lanes. But we were simply stuck, parked.
I feel like sometimes I work on Bible reading and prayer time and I’m moving along. I’m cruising at a nice speed, but all of a sudden, life’s circumstances take a slight shift, it doesn’t even have to be a big shift. Then I’m now going nowhere. I do really well for awhile, but then find myself parked. Not moving.
What do you do when you feel stuck?
I tell you what I tend to do – I tend to just look around and start comparing. I start wishing I was sitting in a different car, going a different direction, just so I can get out of this waiting. Or, I tend to glance at the person next to me, and say, well, at least I’m not the only one in a mess….
I’m tired of doing both of those things. Instead of wishing God to do a marvelous work in my circumstances, to make a way for this or that, I’m instead praying God does a marvelous work in my heart. Changing my desires is the key.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. The desires will be His, once He changes m hearts.
What do I do when I feel stuck?
I pray God to not necessarily get me unstuck. I’ve learned to pray He works in me during this time. It seems He works best when all I have left is Him.
