Will anyone notice me? I think we’ve all asked it. No matter our age, our gender, our season, our stage, our position, or posture, we wonder: is anyone noticing?
Do they notice all we give?
Do they notice all we give up?
Do they notice the small ways I create beauty?
Do they notice…..
So, instead of asking do “they” notice, I am asking, does He notice. Does He see the small, and the big, the sacrifice and the joy? Does He see the suffering and broken, mixed with pain and happiness?
Our answer lies in what we know about Him. Instead of asking, does He notice me, I need to start asking, do I notice Him? Do I see the millions of ways He speaks love into my life? Do I see the beauty in my past, even the mistakes? Do I see His hand sovereignly guiding me through life? The choices I made were all under the care of the Shepherd. And do I notice Him today?
Only when I open up God’s Word do I notice Him more and more. As I let the words sink into my heart, the words I’ve read for twenty, almost thirty years, are the ways I can notice how truly blessed I am. To love Him more. To find Him more.
And sometimes days and weeks pass with nothing between us, and I feel a little dusty, shameful, and want to hide because I haven’t opened up the Word in so long. He doesn’t keep a tally mark of it all. He doesn’t keep track or keep a record of the number of pages I’ve read.
So I pick up the Book, I speak life to my heart from the words on the page. I read words on the page. Sometimes I start over. Sometimes I start in the middle. Today, I’m starting in Psalm. Just flipping through, and here it is, the words I needed for today.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8
His eye is on me. He notices. And He is leading, teaching, and guiding me. *Exhale* He notices. He notices….me.
