Start the timer for 5 minutes….begin!
Study is not something I loved to do. In fact, in college, I avoided it at all costs. I needed to study. I stayed up late to study, when I had to, but study wasn’t always my favorite. I liked good grades, so I studied.
As I’ve gotten older, the word study has changed in its meaning. Today, the word doesn’t involved notecards, lists, textbooks, and highlighters. It inludes a passion I’ve found inside of me. A passion to study God’s Word. I didn’t know it was there until this past year.
I started this blog a LONG time ago (feel free to check out the older posts)! I began it because I love to write. Two year ago, I realized I had a book inside of me. I had some words I needed to write and get out into the world. Wow, this is turning into a super personal post……So after I realized I had a book to write, I realized I needed to write more on my blog. And I was encouraged to find a niche. What do I love? What do I want to write about? At first it was motherhood or adoption. Both things I love, enjoy, and speak to who I am.
As I dug deeper into my passions, I realized God’s Word was a my true passion. Yes, adoption would always be a part of my story. Yes, I am in the throws of motherhood, but if I were to be honest, I needed to find something I LOVED. And that was the study of God’s Word. Not just reading it – although I do love to read it! Not just memorizing or Bible journaling, but studying it.
After reading Jen’s book, I found myself passionate about Bible study. How to do it better. How to add it to my life. How to keep it first in my life. How to find God through the Bible study.
You see, I am part of a great group of writers (Hope*Writers), and I love to write about hope, joy, and peace. Yet, I found you cannot have those three without God. And abiding (the original theme of my blog: Abiding in Grace) were only found in God’s Word. I cannot tell you how much this excites me! I hope you will join me, as I journey through the rest of 2016 and into 2017 digging deeper into studying God’s Word!
Something special happens in October. A community of bloggers and writers gather for 31 Days of Writing. For an extra little challenge, I’ll be also participating in 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes.
31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes is a “challenge within the challenge,” so to speak — namely, to post on your blog every day in the month of October, but to write each post in only five minutes flat.
If you are interested in joining the fun, check out Christina’s page here.
Here is the list of the word prompts for 31 Days of Five Minute – Free Writes.
