3 Truths While You Wait – FREE Devotional

3-truths-while-you-wait-devotional-for-women

Dear friend,

Don’t wait too long to read this. Today is the day you will begin moving ahead. I promise, after you finish this letter, you will take a step. Maybe just one step, but that’s ok. One step is all you need to move forward.

First: I GET IT. The waiting hurts – physically and emotionally.  Waiting is hard, on your marriage, your friendships, and your family. It seems like it will never end and  it makes you feel alone. My dear, you are NOT alone. You are the farthest from alone you could ever be. In fact, look around you. Your church pew, your office, your school, your family and friends are all waiting too. There’s a woman waiting for a test results behind you at church. A man is waiting to here back from his estranged son. So many young women wait for the right guy. There is son waiting for his father to show back up into his life. Waiting is part of life. Waiting with no end will consume you. Don’t let it. Decide in your heart today to listen to voice of truth. You are not alone.

The voice of truth is speaking to you, don’t miss it. It isn’t shouting. Truth is often the quietest, but most powerful voice you will ever hear. Let it make its way into the depths of your soul and help give you courage today. I see how waiting brings paralyzing fear and anxiety. I’ve felt it to. Stuck. While we were driving home from a long trip, our car stopped in a parking lot on the interstate. No one was moving,  the red lights in front of us caused our chests to heave out a huge sigh. We were ready to be home, and so are you. My waiting friend, you are just ready for home and for normal. At night, your tears stain your pillow because you think normal will never come again.

So, let the truth of scripture encourage your heart today. Three truths to claim today.

Truth #1 – Wait on the Lord. The only time you are waiting will be when you can’t see God moving. The psalmist knew in Psalm 25 God was working, but he had to wait to see how. Don’t ever forget God is working. When you can’t see His hand, trust His word. He will sustain you. God will guide and lead you. Seek out His word during this time of waiting.

Truth #2 – Work While You Wait. In Genesis 8, we read how Noah was rescued from the flood, but do you realize he was on the ark for months before the waters receded? It rained for forty days and forty nights, but it look 150 days before God allowed the waters to go back down. While Noah was in the ark, he let out a dove twice. He didn’t just sit around, wishing the time to go by. He got to work. What work can you do right now while you wait? Be joyful and be cheerful today, in the place you are. Embrace the space you have been placed. It is a time of waiting, but it is always a time to work as well.

Truth #3 – Waiting Takes Courage. Let God be your light, as it says in Psalm 27, God is waiting for us to seek Him. If we seek Him early, and I don’t think that always means in the morning. I think it means before our hearts have a chance to worry. Seek Him before your heart is weary, seek Him first, and courage comes. Not from ourselves, but from knowing more about God.

So friend, hang on to these truths during your time of waiting. Waiting most likely will not last forever, but even if it does – you have something to do today. Find God today. Seek Him in His Word and look for ways to serve Him – even just for today. I am praying for you.

Love,

A woman who is always waiting for the next thing.

Waiting was also a theme of my life two years ago. I struggled with the weight of waiting during our first adoption. I learned about living in the daily during those long days, weeks, and months. 1. It is hard to wait, isn’t it? I know sometimes we can feel alone, but we are never alone. “Don’t ever forget God is working. When you can’t see His hand, trust His word. He will sustain you.” These are such true words. He is always with us even if we can’t see, so we need to trust and follow Him as we wait.

Great post! I’m your neighbor at #TestimonyTuesday.

  2. This post is full of wisdom for those waiting times and we all have them. Thanks for sharing. I’ll be pinning this on my “posts worth reading” board. Blessings!
