Its time for Five Minute Friday. Five minutes. No edits. No revisions. Set the timer….Go!
The journey to today began almost two years ago. A friend suggested we put our adoption stuff up on a blog, and I write about our journey to our daughter. So, I did. I found I loved more than just blogging about adoption – I loved blogging. And I loved writing. And over the past few years I’ve realized I also love God’s Word.
So here I am. Sitting in a hotel room on a Thursday night unwinding from the first night a writer’s workshop. Not a conference, but a workshop. A journey is something I’ve thought had a definite beginning and a definite end. No, I’ve finding weaves us through many different types of journeys.
I have the adoption journey. Our first adoption journey to our daughter. Now, we are on our second adoption journey to our son. I also have found my writing journey. It doesn’t have a definite start date. Maybe when I wrote my first story in elementary school about a stamp who gets mailed. My journey with this blog and my new writing goals have less to do with where I started and instead more about a place I want to end up.
Where do I see my writing? When we dream big, we allow God to work. We allow God to shift our focus, our path, and we keep moving forward. I’m dreaming big this weekend – but Monday morning is coming. The ordinary is coming, and how do we journey through the everyday-ness with our dreams tucked inside our hearts?
I think we let God use our normal, everyday-ness to prepare us. I do the hard work of the invisible to be prepared for God to make it known. If my writing is never known – I’m ok with it. I’m ok being a steward of this tiny space for as long as God allows.
