Its time for Five Minute Friday. Five minutes. No edits. No revisions. Set the timer….Go!
The middle is where I live. The middle of waiting. We are waiting for a match right now in our adoption process. We’ve filled out all of the forms for the home study. We filled out the countless forms for governments and the endless red tape for the dossier. Our piles of paperwork were notarized, state sealed, authenticated, translated, and then sent to the other side of the world.
So now we are waiting. Just waiting for our little boy’s file to find its way into our inbox. We wait for a call. A message. And we are in the middle of it.
Waiting the second time, I thought I was good about being in the middle season – but turns out ANY waiting is hard, even if you’ve done it before. Waiting is the middle place. Not the beginning, where you have excitement and joy. Not the end with the satisfaction of completion. The middle. The boring, uninteresting, sometimes super painful waiting period.
I’ve learned lessons in previous waiting seasons, but during this second season of adoption waiting, God is teaching me about RESTORATION. He is using this time to restore. Our family. My heart. My soul and spiritual self.
The fist adoption was HARD. So He’s doing a little restoration in this season of the middle. And I’m ok with that. Sometimes waiting is a time to get ready. Not that we don’t feel ready (like last week) to be matched with our little boy. But we are being made ready.
And only God knows when it will be.
Friend, it is ok to feel sad or lonely in this season of waiting – but the season of middle doesn’t have to be wasted. In fact, one of my favorite sayings is: Nothing is Wasted with God. So even a season of waiting is for Him to work and get Glory.
