Time for Five Minute Friday!!! Five minutes. No edits. No revisions. Set the timer….Go!
So we’ve heard “Jesus is enough.” Or, we’ve heard “I’m enough….with Jesus.” But what does that mean? Practically speaking….what it does it mean that God is enough?
I thought about it. The word “portion” comes to mind, especially because I’ve been reading in Psalms….and portion is a little bit of a theme. Portion makes me think of “enough.” Having a portion is having what is allotted to me.
Then, I remembered the story of the Israelites. And Psalm 81:16: But he would feed you with the finest of wheat and with the honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
It is a reference to the feeding of the children of Israel with manna in Exodus. But what I forget, and need to remember about that story, was it wasn’t about the food. It was about trusting God. It was about believing God would provide for them – daily.
So when I think about God being enough for me, I think I need to stop making a list. I need to stop trying to say: He is enough in ALL of these things. I think believing God means I trust Him with the small, daily things.
God is enough means I entrust my life to Him.
It means I trust Him to fill me with strength, physically speaking.
It means I trust Him to give me wisdom with my children.
It means I trust Him to satisfy me emotionally.
It means I trust Him to provide my physical needs.
It means I trust He will rightly judge when I’ve been mistreated.
It means I trust He is the loving Father, no matter what I do.
It means I can come to Him, with my heart open, and He will fill me with Himself.
The more I know Him, the more I can trust Him. The more I trust Him, the more I find He is enough.
