Time for Five Minute Friday!!! Five minutes. No edits. No revisions. Set the timer….Go!
I don’t know the future, but then again – no one really does. Last night my husband and I were discussing life and where we will end up. All we know is we won’t be in this house, or community, or with these people we do life with RIGHT NOW when we are 70 years old. We don’t even know what country we will live in.
To the planner-girl deep inside of me, that is SO scary. It is scary to say, I don’t know where I’ll grow old. I don’t know who I will be with. But it isn’t a choice we’ve made lightly. And my husband reminded me: No one knows where they will be when they are 70. As a doctor, he sees a lot of heartache, pain, and unforeseeable medical diagnosis.
He kept talking, No one thinks they will have a heart attack in their 30’s. Or get cancer.
So I was reminded, I’m not the only one to fear the future. I’m not the only one to wonder where life will take our family, my marriage, and my physical life. The power to live in the present, and not be consumed with the fear of the future comes with a Personal relationship with God. It also comes with a BIG VIEW of God.
The bigger my God, the better I can trust Him with my future. The more personal my God, the better I can lean on Him for my present. So I need both views of God to live in confidence, courage, and keep moving forward into the future.
Hope for tomorrow comes, even in the shadows. Because the future doesn’t change the God of today. Great is His Faithfulness. Through the years, He will be faithful.
