How to Read Your Bible on Vacation

What summer plans do you have this summer? How do you read your Bible on vacation? A month ago we left for China. We were there for over two weeks. Although it wasn’t a vacation, we were out of our routine for awhile. It was been a much different trip than the last time. Even though it was so much less stressful, I still struggled with reading my Bible consistently. It was hard, living in a hotel room with various appointments and time constraints. I learned a few tips on how to read your Bible on vacation.

What do you do when you are on vacation?

I feel like even though I’m out of my routine, my Bible reading is still necessary. Prayer time is still vital, and I don’t want to neglect the most important thing, even on vacation.

How do we read our Bibles, even on vacation?

These steps are just a few things I’ve found worked for me last month, while we were in China. I’d love to hear how you priorize your Bible reading and prayer time, even on vacation! Leave a comment to help us all!

3 Steps to Reading Your Bible on Vacation

  1. Set it as a priority. I made sure to get up a little earlier to have time to read. It wasn’t perfect, but I did my best. First, I gave myself an extra 30-45 minutes than I regularly needed. I also skipped some things in order to stay behind to read my Bible. My husband was gracious enough to take our little boy out for walks on the few mornings we had free, so I could stay behind and read my Bible.
  2. Don’t over complicate it. While on vacation you don’t need to bring your big study books, journals, or even a lot of material. I suggest downloading a Bible app on your phone or bringing a pocket sized Bible, pens, and a journal. Making it simple can be even more meaningful. For me, I only needed my prayer journal, pocket Bible, and a reading plan.
  3. Have a plan!  If you need an easy, direct plan to study God’s Word, check out my new Psalm’s Bible reading plan. Read a Psalm a day, write your prayers, and journal your thoughts to reflection questions – all in one place! ALL OF THIS CAN BE DONE IN 10 MINUTES! I’ve created this plan for busy moms like you and me. Check it out here.

PSSST…..I have something NEW. Do you need peace in your life? Is your life full of anxiety or depression? I have something I’m currently doing to help!  I’m using the power of prayer to bring more peace to my life! Check it out here.

  1. I like point two, don’t overcomplicate it. There are some good phone apps that have bible study plans you can sign up for, audio bible readings, etc. So maybe try something different. Like SheReadsTruth or the YouVersion Bible app.

  2. I love that you say not to complicate it. That makes so many more things possible! Thanks for the timely article!
